About This Place

Perch Brewhouse, nestled in the vibrant heart of Sheffield City Centre at 44 Garden Street, is more than just a bar — it’s a genuine local institution that strikes the perfect balance between a lively social hub and a welcoming retreat. Renowned for its own brewery and an impressive lineup of real ales, this charismatic venue invites both beer lovers and casual drinkers to indulge in a diverse and thoughtfully curated beer selection, including intriguing Belgium bottles that have earned high praise from discerning visitors.

Step into Perch and you’ll immediately sense the warmth and character that set it apart. The friendly, knowledgeable staff — notably the ever-attentive landlord, Mark — foster an authentic pub atmosphere where conversations flow freely, and guests feel like part of a close-knit community. As Philip Crisp fondly recalls, it’s reminiscent of the golden age of pubs where friendships were nurtured over good drinks and genuine hospitality. This isn’t just a bar; it’s a living, breathing social experience cherished by students, locals, and visitors alike.

The expansive outdoor seating area beckons on sunny days, offering a lively yet relaxed space right in the city center, perfect for unwinding after a busy day or celebrating special moments. Wendy Vickers’ memorable 50th birthday celebration at Perch speaks volumes about the attentive service and accommodating spirit that runs through the team — making every visit feel personal and special.

When it comes to food, Perch Brewhouse hits every note with a menu designed to perfectly complement its excellent drinks. Their cheese and bacon burgers are decadent crowd-pleasers, offering hearty, comforting flavors with each juicy bite. For pizza aficionados, the selection of artisanal pizzas — from the rich Four Cheese and smoky Pepperoni to the adventurous Haggis special — offers something for every palate. The loaded fries provide a delightful, indulgent snack that pairs wonderfully with their cold brews and crisp gins. Jack Shaw’s rave review about the lush pizzas and some of the “nicest chips” he’s had recently underscores the kitchen’s ability to deliver standout pub fare that keeps people coming back.

Above all, Perch Brewhouse radiates a relaxed, inclusive vibe where excellent drinks, delicious food, and memorable social experiences intersect. Whether you’re seeking a place to hang out with friends, enjoy craft beers brewed on-site, or simply savor one of Sheffield’s hidden gems, this bar promises a friendly welcome and an experience steeped in local charm and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended by patrons for its authenticity, quality, and warm atmosphere, Perch is truly a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Sheffield’s vibrant nightlife.

This lovely, local, and lively pub, is a staple in the area, and well frequented by both students and others alike. When I first went into Perch, I had a lovely chat with the landlord, Mark, and became nostalgic for the age where pub landlords and customers could talk and grow a friendship that my father always told me about. Aside from the atmosphere, this is a very well priced pub. One example of this being that they have an incredible pub quiz on a Tuesday, five pound entry and you get a free pizza which tasted delicious.

Celebrated the wife's 50th Birthday at the Perch on Saturday and we had the most fantastic day. Mark could not have been more accommodating to our requests and we were all so looked after by all the team . All our guests commented what an amazing hidden gem the Perch is and that they would be returning. Thank you again Wendy & Tracey
